Ali Enters Elite Club of Test All-rounders
Manchester, July 21: England all-rounder Moeen Ali on Thursday achieved a rare feat completing 3000 runs and 200 wickets in the red-ball format. The 3000 runs-200 wickets double is very rare in Test cricket, as less than 20 players have done so in the history of cricket.
Moeen Ali joined an elite club of Test players with 3,000 runs-200 wickets double when he hit an eye-catching half-century against Australia in the fourth Test of the ongoing Ashes series in Manchester.
Prior to Ali, quality all-rounders such as Gary Sobers, Imran Khan, Richard Hadlee, Ian Botham, Chris Cairns, Shakib al Hassan, Kapil Dev, Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock and Andrew Flintoff have created this impeccable record.
Currently playing his 67th Test, Moeen Ali has amassed 3031 runs, laced with five centuries and 15 fifties. He has made two centuries against India, two against Sri Lanka and one versus Pakistan, with 155* being his highest score. Ali has 201 wickets in Test cricket which include five 5-fers. He has taken 6-fers against South Africa and India.
