Bangladesh cricket team scripted history on Sunday by winning the first-ever Test match on Australian soil, winning the Darwin test against hosts, Australia, by nine wickets.
Mominul remained unbeaten on 30* and his partner Shadman was unbeaten on 25* to chase 57 runs to win in style. Bangladesh are 1-0 up in the two match series.
Earlier, Cameron Green fought hard to score his third test century and help his side take a lead of 56 runs after Australia were trailing by 228 runs.
Australia after being bundled out for 198 runs in their first innings and managed 284 runs in their second innings, taking a lead of 56 runs and leaving only 57 runs to win for Bangladesh.
Barring Green and Smith, most Australian batters failed to make significant contributions.
For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud was sensational with nine wickets in the test match, six wickets in the first and three more in the second innings.
Mehidy Miraz picked up his 15th five-for, his first on Australian soil.
Tanzid had scored a century in the first innings while skipper Shanto and Mehidy made impressive fifties.
Aussie commentary team showered praise on Bangladesh team.
“They showed courage with the bat. They showed courage with the ball,” said one Australian commentator.
“Bangladesh won all sessions in this test,” said another commentator.
Bangladesh secured a decisive 228-run lead on day three of the Test in Darwin.
“We got the belief in this unit,” said Mehidy Maraz after the win.
Earlier, Bangladesh ended their first innings on 426, thanks to a century by Tanzid and fifties from skipper Shanto and all-rounder Mehidy.
“Shanto is a very good captain. He takes good decisions,” Mehidy added.
For Australia, Hazlewood took six wickets and Green scored a ton.
