India comfortably beat hosts Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the Galle Test, as young spinner Manav Suthar claimed 10 wickets in the match.
Sri Lanka required an improbable target of 372 runs, but fell way short. Despite stiff resistance offered by Lankan batter Sonal Dinusha (84) and skipper Dhananjaya de Silva (59), the Indian bowlers made life difficult for the batters.
For India, Suthar took six wickets in the second innings. He had taken four wickets in the first innings.
In the batting department, Devdutt Paddikal had made 167 runs in the first innings and 44 in the second. He was adjudged player of the match.
Earlier, India after winning the toss had piled up 462 runs in the first innings. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 284, thanks largely to a century by Sonal (100) and a score of 80 by wicket keeper batter Dickwella.
India made another 193 in the second innings, leaving a target of 372 for Lanka to achieve.
