J&K Cyber Police Issues Advisory
Anantnag, July 22 : A police constable was killed on Wednesday in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district after an unknown assailant shot bullets from point blank range in the busy Lal Chowk area, officials said.
According to details available with The News Herald, a personal of the J&K Police received bullet injuries after being hit in a militant attack. The injured cop was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed.
Doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Ashiq Hussain from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Meanwhile, a proscribed organisation TRF, considered an offshoot of Laskar; took responsibility for the attack on its social media cell.
Reportedly, the cop was on Amarnath pilgrimage duty.
The J&K Police have launched a swift investigation into the attack. All CCTV footage is being examined and the entire area cordoned off with more reinforcements rushed to the spot.
Simultaneously, Jammu and Kashmir’s Cyber Police has issued an advisory urging media organizations and the general public not to circulate photographs or videos related to the purported militant attack.
It said any violations may invite legal action.
“It has been observed that certain media organizations and members of the public are circulating photographs and videos related to the terror incident in Anantnag.
Cyber Police J&K cautions all media organizations and the general public to refrain from sharing, publishing, forwarding, or circulating such content on any platform,” Cyber Police said in a statement, adding that “Dissemination of such material may hamper ongoing investigations, compromise public security, and attract legal action under the relevant provisions of law. Strict action shall be taken against violators.”
