Delhi, 21 July: The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his sibling Priyanka Gandhi were detained on Tuesday and taken to undisclosed location from the protest site outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence in New Delhi.
Led by Rahul Gandhi, many Congress leaders demanded accountability from the ruling government. Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being “the most anti-youth Prime Minister India has ever had” while supporting the ongoing protests against recurring examination paper leaks.
The Congress leader deplored the police action against protesters attempting to march to Parliament on the opening day of the monsoon session. Rahul Gandhi sought to underline that it had been raising the issue of paper leaks long before the present agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
Congress said in a statement that the party wants to know the whereabouts of their leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the Congress of politicking.
Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi, staged their protest at Lok Kalyan Marg, alleging police excesses against students during the CJP’s march to Parliament.
Congress leaders chanted slogans against Modi and the ruling BJP over the NEET paper leak and demanded the resignation of PM Narendra Modi and Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
