Port of Spain, 4 August: An unbeaten 166*-run stand between Pakistan skipper Babar Azam [86*] and stylish batter Abdullah Shafique [107*] put the team in command, ensuring the hosts inch closer to the West Indies first innings total of 344 in the second and final test match of the ongoing series.
Pakistan have an opportunity to level the series 1-1 while West Indies would like to whitewash the visitors with 2-0.
Abdullah Shafique scored his sixth Test century, his third away from home, in his 25th Test. His century contained 10 fours and two big sixes.
For the first time in his career, Abdullah Shafique batted as one drop, and scored a brilliant century. He replaced the injured Shan Masood, who had also scored a century in the first test of this series in Tarouba at the Brian Lara Academy.
Babar Azam supported Abdullah Shafique with a breathtaking 86* not out, hitting 10 elegant fours and a six.
Youngster Azan Awais also played well for his 55, but Imam-ul-Haq fell early scoring only 14.
Earlier, West Indies posted 344 in their first innings. Captain Roston Chase made 70 while all-rounder Justin Greaves scored 73, and Brandon King made 46.
Pakistan off-spinner Sajid Khan took four wickets while pacers Mohammad Ali and Ubaid Shah claimed two wickets each, and left-arm spinner Usman Ali also chipped in with two wickets.
