Srinagar: 15 July: Politicians across party lines on Tuesday expressed condolences with the Farooq Abdullah family over the death of veteran National Conference leader, Mustafa Kamal, who breathed his last in Srinagar.
Kashmir Valley’s chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, said he was “saddened to hear about the death of veteran politician Dr. Mustafa Kamal Sahib.”
The head priest expressed his condolences to the Abdullah family.
Similarly, Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minister and President People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, too prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
In a statement, the JKNC described Mustafa Kamal’s passing as an “irreparable loss” to the National Conference.
“His unwavering commitment, principled leadership, and steadfast dedication to the people of the region earned him immense respect across political and social spheres,” the party statement said.
Other political parties in their statements described Kamal as a “noble soul” and a “seasoned politician”.
Sheikh Mustafa Kamal passed away in Srinagar on 14 July at the age of 83.
Kamal, the younger brother of National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah and uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital where he breathed his last, family members said.
