Srinagar, July 29: After receiving incessant rains from 20 up to 25 July, there is possibility of more rains in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, the weather department said on Wednesday.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is likelihood of “flash floods, landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas” from 29 July to 2 August.
As per details, Jammu’s Samba area recorded “the highest rainfall” during the past 24 hours at 87 mm, followed by Katra and Udhampur.
“From 29 to 31 July, most places are likely to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers, with brief intense heavy showers and torrential rain possible at a few places in the Jammu division, generally during morning and late afternoon to evening hours,” the MET officials said.
There is also the possibility of rainfall in the Kashmir Valley. There is likelihood of “brief spells of intense showers during the period”.
Last week, many parts of the Pir Panchal and the Chenab Valley witnessed cloudbursts, landslides, shooting stones, flash floods, causing massive damage to public property.
More than 20 people lost their lives in Pir Panchal and the Chenab Valley.
