Srinagar: 15 July: Former President of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee [JKPCC], Saifuddin Soz, on Wednesday said the Farooq Abdullah-led J&K National Conference [JKNC] should not limit it’s political struggle to the restoration of statehood.
Speaking to a Delhi-based news agency, Soz said that Jammu and Kashmir’s “internal autonomy should be restored”.
He further told PTI: “As for the National Conference’s protest at Jantar Mantar [Delhi], I believe it (JKNC) should not limit its demand to the restoration of statehood… Statehood can be restored, but Jammu and Kashmir cannot remain a Union Territory forever. This is only a temporary arrangement… “
“…Sheikh Abdullah believed that accession with India was the right decision, but on the condition that Jammu and Kashmir retained its internal autonomy. That internal autonomy should now be restored,” the veteran Congress leader asserted.
