Srinagar: 12 July: Shreyas Iyer as team India’s new skipper in the T20I format has had a terrible start, as England beat India 4-0 in a 5-match T20I series with one game washed off.
In Southampton, the fifth and last match, England won by a handsome margin of 56 runs.
Batting first, England posted 257-3 in the allotted 20 overs.
Opening batter Jos Buttler made 131 in just 64 balls while English skipper Harry Brook remained unbeaten on 95* in 45 balls.
Buttler won the player of the match award.
England batters hit 17 sixes and 17 fours.
In response, India batters hit only 8 sixes and 20 fours. India posted 201-8, with Ishan Kishan making 56 in 35 balls and out-of-form Tilak Varma 53 in 25 balls.
Earlier, India lost in Bristol by 9 wickets; by 125 runs in Nottingham; and by four wickets in Manchester. The first game in Chester-le-Street ended in no result due to rain.
Prior to England tour, India lost both T20Is in Belfast against Ireland.
Meanwhile, Harry Brook was adjudged player of the 5-match T20I series.
